Here is a rough translation from a study in China on the effectiveness of Acupuncture & Chinese Herbs for SARS CoV-2. Of course this isn’t a traditional double blind placebo study, nor is it peer reviewed, but all info coming out right now are pre-print and we’re constantly learning new information. We will keep this and other articles updated as we learn new information.

This is a controlled treatment experiment of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM-observation group) and conventional medicine (Western Medicine-control group).

    TCM groupWM group
    Number of treatments320320
    Number of death patient0113
    Mortality Rate035.3%
Healing timeAverage 7 days20 days and still under treatment
Treatment methodsHerbs, AcupunctureAntibiotics, hormone, saline infusion etc.
SequelaeNoneFibrosis of Lung tissue, Uremia, Myocarditis etc.
Medical expensesSeveral hundred yuan per patient400,000 yuan

TCM group treated 320 patients, no one died, while WM group treated the same number of patients, but 113 died. When the experiment was far from over, many patients in the WM group insisted on transferring to the TCM group for treatment. As a result, more than 320 patients were treated by TCM, while fewer than 320 were treated by WM. That is, if the patients were not transferred to the TCM group for treatment, the mortality rates of the WM group must have been greater than 40%. The above data if from Dr. HaiJi Zeng of the Peking University Third Hospital.

Dr. Zeng said: “This time we were completely using traditional Chinese herbal medicine. There were 320 patients in our observation group and none died. Even when WHO officials visited our TCM treatment team, they couldn’t admire it enough. The control group was treated with chloroquine hydrochloride and imported antiviral drugs plus saline infusion etc., while our TCM observation group applied several traditional Chinese herbal formulas and made some adjustment to treat.  Many patients in the control group were transferred to our TCM group. Basically the patients were discharged from the hospital for a week, and all examinations are normal.

Before I left, I have submitted the treatment ideas and the observation of efficacy, as well as the medical prescriptions to the National Health and Family Planning Commission. Viral infection is explained from the theory of western medicine. In fact, the declined function in immune system is the main cause of this disease. In TCM group, all patients who are cured were treated under the guidance of TCM theory. Herbal tea and acupuncture were used without any western medicine.”

Dr. Zeng said with confidence: “After this outbreak, Traditional Chinese Medicine will inevitably develop.”
