New Patients

Fill out the new patient intake forms when you book your appointment, which includes an insurance intake. I am in-network with BlueCross BlueShield, but if your out-of-network plan covers acupuncture by a licensed acupuncturist, I am happy to bill your insurance for you. Some services are not covered by insurance, and that is explained below.

Insurance & Add-On Fees

Acupuncture (Insurance-Covered Visit)

Your acupuncture treatment is billed directly to your insurance. Blue Cross Blue Shield members with acupuncture benefits and out-of-network payors who cover acupuncture will have their visit covered according to their plan. You are responsible for your applicable copay or coinsurance after your deductible is met.

Acupuncture visits include: intake and assessment, needle placement, and monitoring during treatment.

Hands-On Add-On Services

Not covered by insurance — patient pay only

Many patients benefit from additional manual therapy before or after acupuncture. These services are not billed to insurance and are offered as an optional add-on to your visit. Dr. Mires will assess what is most appropriate for you that day and apply the techniques accordingly — you do not need to choose a specific modality. The work may include gua sha, facial or body cupping, lymphatic drainage, myofascial release, or scar tissue therapy, depending on your presentation and goals.

Add-on sessions are available in the following increments:

  • Brief Add-On — Approx. 15–20 minutes — $25
  • Standard Add-On — Approx. 20–25 minutes — $35
  • Extended Add-On — Approx. 25–30 minutes — $55

Duration is approximate and based on clinical need. Dr. Mires will recommend what is appropriate at your visit.

What Add-On Sessions May Include

Depending on your condition and goals, hands-on time may be used for any combination of the following:

Gua sha — Instrument-assisted soft tissue technique using guided load and pressure to address fascial adhesions, tissue stagnation, and restricted mobility. Appropriate for neck, back, jaw, extremities, and scar tissue.

Cupping — Decompressive therapy using silicone or glass cups to lift and mobilize superficial fascia, support lymphatic flow, and reduce tissue tension. Available for face, neck, back, and body.

Lymphatic drainage — Gentle manual technique to support lymphatic circulation, reduce fluid retention, and calm immune reactivity. Particularly beneficial for MCAS, post-viral fatigue, and post-surgical recovery.

Myofascial release — Sustained, low-load manual pressure applied to areas of fascial restriction. Useful for hypermobility, chronic tension patterns, and nervous system regulation.

Facial and scar therapy — Targeted work on facial tissue, jaw, and scar tissue using gua sha, cupping, and manual techniques. Supports tissue mobility, collagen remodeling, and nervous system desensitization around scars.

How to Add On at Your Visit

At booking: When scheduling online, note in the appointment comments that you would like to add hands-on time. This helps Dr. Mires plan your appointment length.

At your visit: You can also request add-on time at the start of your appointment. Dr. Mires will let you know what she recommends based on what she observes that day.

First-time patients: Your first visit will focus on acupuncture so you can see how your body responds. Add-on services are available from your second visit onward, or sooner if clinically indicated.

Payment

Payment for add-on and standalone services is due at the time of service.

Accepted: credit/debit card, HSA/FSA card, cash, Venmo, Zelle

Insurance is not billed for add-on or standalone manual therapy services.
